NAN – Indian Police on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 said the driver of a tanker drowned in milk when his vehicle fell into a ditch and ruptured the tank.
The police in Shivamogga district of the south-western state of Karnataka said the driver was unable to climb out and drowned before residents arrived.
“The Karnataka Milk Federation tanker was carrying 2,000 to 3,000 litres of milk from the town of Sagar to Mangaluru when it failed to negotiate a sharp bend near Hosanagar town,’’ police said.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau, no fewer than 135,000 lives are lost to traffic accidents yearly in India since 2011.
