There was a commotion when the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, ordered the arrest of a military officer for riding his motorcycle against traffic.
It was learnt that the governor and his entourage chased the military officer into a military barracks around Ozumba Mbadiwa Bonny camp.
Daily Trust reports that the state government had recently banned commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada from operating in some local government, including Iru/Victoria Island, where the incident happened.
Though military officers and security personnel on duty were exempted from the ban, it was gathered that the military personnel drew the ire of the governor for driving against traffic.
In a viral video, the governor and his entourage came down from their vehicles to confront the officer.
He then ordered the arrest of the military officer and confiscation of the motorcycle amidst tension and anxiety.
Daily Trust reports that a similar occurrence was recorded in 2012 under the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola when the governor arrested a senior military officer driving on a BRT lane around outer Marina, Lagos Island.
