Aubrey Drake Graham on Sunday won an incredible 13 trophies at the Billboard Music Awards, surpassing Adele’s 2012 haul of 12 plaques.
The Canadian rapper was the highest nominated artiste, being eligible in 22 categories.
Largely for his ‘Views’ album and the standout ‘One Dance track, Drake won top artist, top male artist and top Billboard 200 album, among others.
The award ceremony took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, US.
Drake was presented with the top artist award by Prince Jackson, the late Michael Jackson’s eldest son.
An elated Drake said: “I got my whole family up here, look at my dad looking all sharp! I got the man responsible for being here, the love of my life.”
Beyonce and Twenty One Pilots each won five awards, while the Chainsmokers won four awards.
Nigerian Afropop star Wizkid also won four Billboard Music Awards for his contribution to Drake’s One Dance.
The song won Top Hot 100 Song, Top Streaming Song, Top R&B Song and Top R&B Collaboration.
Wizkid served as a featured artiste on the commercially successful 2016 song which he also co-produced.
Billboard award winners are assessed based on their song sales, streams, radio airplay, live tours and social engagement.
