I Don’t Regret Not Re-Signing Fabrigas – Wenger

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has insisted that he has no regret for not considering Cesc Fabrigas for a second chance after his exit from Barcelona.

He told beIN Sports on Sunday, October 12, 2014 that he had ‘a lot of creative players in midfield’ about the time Fabrigas left Spain and he would not want to wate resource on what in not needed for the club.

Fabrigas joined  Chelsea from Barcelona in a £27 million deal in June, 2014 and has impressed for his new club side with most assist in the season since his return to the Premier League.

Fabregas revealed in an open letter after his move to Chelsea that that Arsenal has the chance to take him back but did not take up their option of re-signing him.

Wenger however maintained that his midfield options are sufficient and dependable for utmost performance in the season despite suffering a 2-0 defeat against their regular rival in London;

“I don’t regret not taking Cesc because we already had a lot of creative players in our midfield,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

“Chelsea will also have a difficult period [in the season]. Our schedule was extremely difficult and I have the belief that we can close the gap to them,” he concluded.
