Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has been honoured as the 2014 Governor of The Year by Dom Communications Limited, publishers of Nigerian Pilot Newspaper and the Nigerian Newsworld Magazine.
This award was given to Orji on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 during the occasion of their 4th and 14th Anniversary/Annual Public Lecture and Award Ceremony at the Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotels in Abuja.
The commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. A.C.B Agbazuere who received the award on behalf of the governor expressed immense gratitude to the publisher, management and staff of Pilot Newspapers for deeming it fit to honour the governor having seen the rate at which his administration transformed the state.
Naming some of Governor Orji’s accomplishments, Dr Agbazuere said that after 23 years of the creation of Abia State, it is Governor Theodore Orji that is building a permanent Government House for the state adding that Abia workers have just left the rented apartment under T.A Orji and moved into an ILO compliant ultra modern workers secretariat.
Further mentioning his achievements, the commissioner said that Governor Orji has given Abia State a state of thear 7000 capacity international conference centre with 16 language interpretation consoles, 12 robot cameras, life satellite transmission system and 12- hour power inverter.
Governor Orji stopped the former tradition of godfatherism in the state and also allayed insecurity problems in the state, said Agbazuere.
