Premier league side, Everton beat Barnsley 5-3 after extra time on Wednesday night in the second round of the 2015/2016 Capital One Cup competition. Despite handing in a transfer request on Tuesday, Chelsea-target, John Stones was still listed in Everton’s starting lineup for the match.
The Everton manager, Roberto Martinez was quizzed about the defender’s situation after the game. The Spaniard was as resolute as ever on his stance about John Stones:
“Our fans know all we are doing is trying to become better and be as good as we can,”
“John is a massive part of that and we’ve got a clear idea that in life and in football money can sometimes not buy everything. This is about values and John is a vital part of our future,” Martinez said.
When asked in clear terms if Stones was for sale or not, Roberto’s answer was bluntly “Not at all“.
