Ibrahim Garab, the vice-chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has confirmed that embattled Senator Dino Melaye is indeed a graduate of the institution.
The professor also confirmed that Senator Melaye left the school with a 3rd class degree in geography in 2000 and earned a Bachelor of Arts.
“From records, Mr. Melaye ‘formerly known as Daniel Jonah Melaye’ graduated from ABU with Third Class BA Geography in 2000,” Professor Garab told the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
Melaye, who is chairperson of the Senate’s committee on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT represents Kogi West Central Senatorial District and has been accused of falsifying his educational certificates by SaharaReporters, an online tabloid.
The senator also appeared before the legislative panel, Monday, and told the panel that he changed his name from Daniel to Dino. Testifying under oath, he also said that graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University.
Melaye also presented an acceptance letter, an acceptance offer of admission and results from ABU Zaria.
The flamboyant and outspoken senator also presented a copy of his final year project before the Senate committee.
Last week, Senator Meleye filed a N5 billion lawsuit against the publisher of SaharaReporters over the libelous publication by the New York-based platform which has been dubbed the “mouth-piece” of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
