If ignorance is bliss, the 12 American women competing in Fox’s newest reality dating show, “I Wanna Marry Harry,” are on cloud nine.
The intelligence of the show’s contestants is almost as dubious as the morals of the people who created it. For anyone not familiar, the show takes a group of clueless women, flies them to the English countryside and promises them the chance to meet, be courted by and possibly marry Britain’s bad boy prince. The catch? Harry is no royal.
In place of Prince Charming, the ladies will unknowingly open their hearts to a “regular English bloke” by the name of Matthew Hicks, who’s been given an “upper-crust makeover” and charged with impersonating the famous ginger. Hicks isn’t in line for the throne … or anything, for that matter, save for 15 minutes of cringe-worthy fame.
The latest trailer has everything one might expect from a reality dating show that is attempting to deceive 12 women looking to earn a royal title find true love. With a beautiful British castle as the setting, fake security guards escort the faux prince as he engages in liaisons with multiple women. There are, of course, plenty of tears.
