A 26-year-old female student of Delta State University, DELSU, Evelyn Mogekwe has committed suicide after she was dumped by her boyfriend of seven years.
It was gathered that the end of the relationship hit Mogekwe so hard due to a dashed hope of getting married to her age long boyfriend.
According to some sources, everything went well on the fateful day until the said lover called the deceased on phone while she was in her hostel room to announce the end of the relationship.
Mogekwe reportedly went out and bought some drugs with claims that she had headache only to leave a note in her room for her room mate (identity withheld) that they might not see her again.
According to Vanguard, a few minutes later, her room mate who sensed danger, raced into the room and found her lying lifeless on the ground.
She raised an alarm which attracted other students to the room but Mogekwe breathed her last before any help could come.
The State Police Public Relations officers, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the death said police recovered particles of drugs on the ground beside the deceased.
Although they failed to disclose if the drugs were meant for headache or something else.
