Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party’s national caretaker committee, has said that the party has not sacked its director of new media, Deji Adeyanju.
Senator Makarfi clarified an earlier press release signed by Chinwe Nnorom on behalf of the committee’s spokesperson, Mr. Dayo Adeyeye which announced the disowning of the @PDPNigeria Twitter handle and the sack of Mr. Adeyanju over “far-reaching statements” distributed by Adeyanju and “different acts of insubordination”.
“In view of the above, the party has immediately re-launched a new handle: @officialpdpnig to form part of the social media platform of our great party for ease of communication, administration and control,” Mr. Adeyeye was quoted as saying.
Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna State, said the PDP still recognises Mr. Adeyanju and the new media department, but added that their activities would be streamlined going forward.
@adeyanjudeji good one sir, he is one of d major reasons most of us still believe in PDP. He is an asset politically.

“If he was employed by the last National Working Committee, then we will have no reason to remove him but to streamline his work,” Mr. Makarfi said.
Deji Adeyanju was appointed in December 2015, and had been responsible for issuing press statements on behalf of the party.
Last week, Mr. Adeyanju signed a statement calling for the resignation of President Buhari in the wake of the country’s descent into recession. The party later issued a statement which differed with this position calling for Buhari to put in a place an economic team, immediately.
