Newly sworn in Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 paid his first courtesy visit as Senate President and was warmly received by former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar.
The latter, speaking through a statement issued by his media team congratulated Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara for their victory at the National Assembly polls.
Atiku further urged the new leaders to put the overall interest of the country before personal political interests.
He said: “The Nigerian people look up to the new National Assembly to work with the executive arm in finding solutions to the problems of insecurity, poverty, illiteracy and joblessness in the country. Their election is indeed a call to duty, and it is a call for which they cannot afford to fail the nation.”
Atiku took to Twitter to post a photo of Saraki and himself during the courtesy visit.
