A 92-year-old woman who was declared dead by a doctor at a funeral home has woken up and screamed from a refrigerated room.
The 53-year-old doctor whose identity was withheld a lieu with privacy regulations was charged with negligent bodily harm after the incident in Germany.
Essen prosecutor, Birgit Juergens said the doctor risks anything from a fine to prison time if convicted.
According to Independent UK, the doctor is alleged to have pronounced the seriously ill woman dead in the evening of a fateful Thursday in March 2015 after a caregiver found her without a pulse and not breathing at a retirement home.
One of the employees of the funeral home was said to have heard the woman scream from the refrigeration room only to find out that she was alive.
However, the prosecutor revealed that the woman finally passed away two days later in a hospital from heart disease.
