Must read

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has taken a swipe at the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 elections, Datti Baba-Ahmed over his comment on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer and/or Questioning and Asexual, LGBTQ.

Presidential Candidate Peter Obi on Friday, July 8, unveiled Baba-Ahmed as his running mate for the 2023 general election.

Baba-Ahmed who represented Kaduna-North in the previous senate, accepted the appointment, saying that Obi opted for him because he believes in his capacity to make Nigeria live up to its billing.

Shortly after Baba-Ahmed was unveiled as Obi’s running mate, a video surfaced online showing the former lawmaker proposing a bill that will permit the killing of people identified as LGBTQ in Nigeria.

The video clip also shared by Omokri has since gone viral on the internet.

Reacting to Baba-Ahmed’s emergence as potential VP to Obi, Omokri said the former lawmaker displayed extremism in his comment.

Omokri asked what will become of blasphemers and atheists when Baba-Ahmed eventually emerged as Nigeria’s VP.

He tweeted: “If elected as Vice President, Senator Datti Baba Ahmed will be a heart beat away from the Presidency. If as a Senator without executive powers, he publicly campaigns for LGBTQ people to be killed, then what will he do as an executive President? What about women?

“If Senator Datti Baba Ahmed believes LGBTQ people should be killed (a statement I condemn), and has publicly said so, then what else does he believe? What does he believe should be done to blasphemers? What about atheists? This is extremism of the highest order!
