Daily Meditations: The Problem Is Your Motive

Must read

Many people come to Christ because they have problems because they want protection from their enemies and others fine because they are feel that there are forces militating against their prosperity.

Matthew 11:28 makes understand that it is okay to come to God with these motives but it is not okay to grow with God with these motives.

We get an insight into the type of motive that God honours in the encounter between God and King Solomon when the Creator to appeared to Solomon in Gibeon after Solomon had sacrificed a thousand burnt offerings. God gave Solomon the option of asking for whatever he wanted. But because Solomon had asked God for wisdom and knowledge rather than protection from his enemies and prosperity in life, God gave Solomon the wisdom he asked for plus the wealth and protection from enemies he didn’t ask for.

We understand from this divine encounter that God honours people who seek after knowledge rather than those who seek after things.

Hosea 6:6 is more specific “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings”. The reason why your Christianity may not be living up to your expectations may not be because of your pastor or your real and imagined enemies. It may just be because of your motives. Clean up your motives and God will take care of your issues.
