Daily Meditations: Making Your Ground Fertile

Must read

If you are farming in a barren land, hardwork will not bring you success. If you are farming in a fertile land, even laziness will bring you success. What makes a land barren or fertile? I will give you a clue. Psalm 24:1 says “The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein”.

This means that God controls the land and the people. Do you want proof? In Genesis 30, when Laban agreed with Jacob that his wages would be the speckled offspring of the herd, that year almost all their offspring were speckled. If Laban said that Jacob’s wages would be the streaked offspring of the herd, that year almost all their offspring were streaked.

There is no scientific explanation for this. In fact Jacob boasted to his wives in Genesis 31:8 that “If he said, ‘The speckled ones will be your wages,’ then all the flocks gave birth to speckled young; and if he said, ‘The streaked ones will be your wages,’ then all the flocks bore streaked young”.

Even Laban had to admit to Jacob in Genesis 39:27 “I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you”. So, if you want a fertile ground, seek God, and seek Him first because “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”-Matthew 6:33. Don’t seek things. Seek God, and things will seek you.
