To get anything from God, you have to approach Him in faith. If you come to Him with ifs, it means your faith is not sufficient and He will return your if to you until your if becomes a firm belief.
In Mark 9:22, the father of the boy possessed by a demon told Yeshu’a, “If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us”. In response Yeshu’a (Jesus) questioned his if saying ‘If you can’?”. “Everything is possible for one who believes”.
In other words, don’t come to God with an if because since all things are possible your if is invalid with Him. Come to Him with belief. God’s power does not manifest in our favor when we if Him. It only manifests when we believe Him. In fact, the use of if should only be directed at humans which is why God speaking through the Prophet Isaiah told King Ahaz “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all”-Isaiah 7:9.
