Whenever you don’t feel close to God, read Hebrews 13:5 ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’.
After reading this verse, ask yourself who is the liar between God and your feelings? Think about it for a while. Your feelings change several times a day but God has never changed for all of eternity and never will.
In Malachi 3:6 God speaking through the prophet said “I am the LORD, and I do not change”. God is greater than your feelings. So where your feelings clash with the Word of God, let the Word of God prevail.
God is close to you even if you don’t feel close to God. Children rely on feelings and emotions because they are immature. However, mature sons of God rely on God’s Word for their security in Him.
“Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil” – Hebrews 5:13-14.
Our feelings are indicators of what we are going through. They are however not dictators of how we should react to what we are going through. For instance, if you feel angry it is often an indication that you have been wronged. If, however, you go ahead to act angry it is now an indication that you are wrong.
