The Spirit speaks to every believer, but not every believer hears.
Followers of Christ who do not hear from the Spirit should consider turning down the volume of the world.
Ever notice how conscious you are of birds singing just before the day breaks? Birds are always singing during the day but you only become conscious of their chirping around the dawn.
The singing is audible to you because the noise of the world has not come on. Once the hustle and bustle of the day begins the chirping of the birds slowly fade away from your hearing.
In the same vein, the Spirit is defined in the Gospels as a bird “the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove” – Luke 3:22.
To hear from The Spirit, periodically, you must deliberately separate yourself from the world. And, what is the world you may ask? The world is any sound or sight or touch that does not lead to the positive transformation of your spirit.
In 1 King 19:12 we read “after the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper”’. You cannot constantly surround yourself with the “earthquake” and expect to hear the “gentle whisper”.
