Fani-Kayode Slams Abba Kyari COVID-19 Death Rumour Mongerers
Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, has condemned reports circulating in the social media that President Muhammadu Buhari’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari has died.
Kyari, who last week Monday tested positive for the deadly coronavirus after returning from a trip in Germany, has remained under self-isolation in an undisclosed place.
However, there were reports on Thursday, April 2, 2020, claiming that Kyari has died, a report which has been denied by Fani-Kayode via his official twitter handle.
The rumor was started Thursday, April 2, 2020, via a tweet by Kemi Olunloyo, a former blogger and controversial social media influencer, who now claimed to be an investigative journalist.
She claimed ‘a high ranking member of President Buhari’s Cabinet has DIED from coronavirus complications’.
Fani-Kayode says in as much as he might not support the administration of President Buhari, wishing death on his political opponent is far from his character.
“It is not true that Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to @MBuhari, is dead. Those that are behind that rumor are vicious and heartless. I remain opposed to the @MBuhari admin. but to wish or proclaim someone dead simply because you disagree with him politically is unacceptable,” he said.
