EFCC Nabs Pastor For Theft And Fraud In Lagos

The Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja, the state capital had on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 arraigned a 45-year-old pastor identified as Bienose Chukwuka, on a 33-count charge of stealing and obtaining money by false pretence, Vanguard reports.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC accused the pastor of theft and getting about N5.3 million through dubious means from 15 persons.

Among his victims were his fellow clerics which included Pastor John Ezeugo and Rev. Peter Emeka.

However, during the session in court, the EFCC counsel, Mr. Ben Ubi, revealed that the offence was a breach on the Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006.

Meanwhile, the pastor pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought up against him in court.

While maintaining that the accused continues with the bail granted him by Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo, the judge who presided over the case, Justice Lawal Akapo scheduled the case for further hearing and trial from December 1, 2014 through December 3, 2014.
