A couple in Benin were stabbed to death by unidentified gunmen on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Idemudia Street in Benin, Edo state.
The assailants were reported to have stabbed the couple several times, which led to the death of the wife at the spot while the husband died a few hours after he was rushed to a private medical hospital for treatment.
According to family sources, the couple were attacked when the husband was accompanying her wife who is a fish seller to their village market to sell her goods.

The robbers were said to have demanded money from them after accosting them and resorted to inflicting injuries on them when the victims could not provide any money.
It was learnt that the woman died on the spot after her intestines fell out of her stomach, following the stabbing.
In a related incident, two other bodies yet to be identified were reportedly found along Sapele and Benin-Agbor road in Benin.
One of the bodies was suspected to be a victim of hit and run while the other was also said to have stab wounds.
Edo Police Command spokesman, DSP Nobele Uwoh, could not be reached for comments as his mobile phone was switched off.
