Unknown gunmen have shot and killed DSP Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, the Principal Security Officer, PSO, to former Nigeria’s first lady, Patience Jonathan.
His decomposing remains was discovered in his Honda Accord car on Friday, June 27, 2015 along the Airport Road, Abuja.
Igbomie’s death was believed to have been a case of assassination as he was reportedly shot at a close range inside his car while the running engine was abandoned.
The late DSP who hailed from Okrika, Bayelsa State, was married with two children.
According to Punch, a source said the body of the DSP was found early in the morning with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects in tact in the car.
The source who served with the deceased at the presidential villa said, “We believe Tamuno was killed by hired assassins because they did not take away anything in his car. His phones and wallets were still with him when his body was found in the car with the engine steaming.
“He was shot in the night and his body was found early in the morning; we don’t know if he was killed over a business transaction or disagreement with someone.”
Findings indicate that the late policeman had just been redeployed back to his former position at the FCT Police Command, where he was in charge of posting of junior officers.
Confirming the death on Sunday, June 28, 2015 the Police Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, said investigation has been launched into the incident to fish out the assassins.
