Clarion Chukwurah is a foremost Nigerian actress and also recognised for her enormous charity work across the globe as a United Nations peace ambassador.
Ever since her arrival into the entertainment industry, Chukwurah has won several awards which has earned her both local and international recognition.
At the 2014 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) which held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Yenegua, Bayelsa, Clarion Chukwurah amongst other nominees came out as the Best actress in a leading role ‘Apaye’, a movie produced and directed by Emem Isong.
The actress dedicated her award to Nigeria saying “I dedicate this award to my country Nigeria because the role I played in Apaye was the role of a woman who after and despite all odds, overcame and became triumphant, so I dedicate this award to Nigeria…”
While speaking at the event, the President of AMAA Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, announced her resignation as the President of the awards body.
Top African entertainers gave wonderful performances at the awards. Soul singer Timi Dakolo, Bez, J Martins, Edge, Ketshe and comedians Buchi put up great performances.
The late iconic producer and director Amaka Igwe was also remembered for her immense contribution in the industry.
