An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger state over allegations of dealing in fireams and fuelling communal clashes in Taraba state.
33-year old ASC Idris Saidu was arrested Fadikpe Area of Chachanga Local Government of Niger State following a tip-off from a patriotic Nigerian and 2 AK-47 rifles with a large amount of ammunition were found in his possession.

According to a report on the official website of the Nigerian Police Force suspect, who hails from Maje in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger state confessed to have purchased the firearms as part of his personal contribution to his maternal community in Taraba state, which is presently in an ongoing communal clash with the Fulanis.
In the report, signed by Force public Relations Officer, ACP Frank Mba, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar showered praise on the citizen whose vigilance led to the arrest of the suspect. Enjoining other members of the public to emulate the act and assist the police in creating a safer society for all.
