The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 declared its support for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the Saturday, March 28, 2015 presidential election.
Pastor Godwin Abah, the chairman of YOWICAN in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said althouth the group was apolitical, it owed its members a duty to advise them to vote wisely, hence the choice of President Jonathan, as there was a need for him to continue his Transformation Agenda.
He made the position known at an interactive session with newsmen at a sensitisation program organised by YOWICAN in Abuja, adding that politicians should refrain from name calling and inciting the electoral towards violence as issue-based campaign was what the nation needed at the moment.
He said: “If you watch out few weeks ago, the level and manner of campaign seems to be instigating violence,” adding “there will be no violence” as long as politicians and political parties kept to the peace accord signed in Abuja,
