Nigerian blogs are running away with the story that the woman formerly known as Pastor Anita Oyakhilome, the ex-wife Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has remarried a man by the name Schafer.
Following the couple’s divorce in September 2016, Pastor Anita, reverted to her maiden name, Anita Ebhodaghe.
Early in October, the Christian clergy woman began to include Schafer to her sign-off on her blog posts. Subsequent comments by her friends indicate that a “wonderful ceremony” occurred leading to her changing her name.
See her Facebook post signing-off with her name and subsequent comments by her friends.
There is no official statement from Pastor Anita and the identity of the new husband who is reportedly a European has not been disclosed.
The last time she commented publicly her marital status was in August 2016, when she warned that she has been divorced from her ex-husband and no longer part of the Christ Embassy Church. She also added that any future news on the subject would be communicated through her solicitors.
“It has been brought to my attention that there are persistent rumors and misinformation about my marital status being circulated and I would like to address the certain reconciliation rumours with this statement,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
“Further to the formal notification of the dissolution of marriage made by my solicitors earlier this year, please note that this has not changed; and I am no longer a part of Christ Embassy aka Believer’s Loveworld or any such organisation in any capacity.”
She signed off on the post thus, ‘Pastor Anita Ebhodaghe formerly Oyakhilome’.
Dawn-to-Dusk, a gossip blog, authoritatively reports that Pastor Anita remarried sometime in September 2016 in a quiet ceremony.
Pastor Anita Ebhodaghe Schafer started the Christ Embassy Church with Pastor Chris. The church, which has grown to become an international ministry, began as a campus fellowship known as Believer’s Love World at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State. The couple are alumni of the university.
She was married to Pastor Chris for 24 years till their divorce made headlines last year. They have two children.
Pastor Oyakhilome recently preached that the woman was created for the man and as such, without the man, a woman has no purpose.
His misogynist remarks mirror the recent comments by Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari in which he said that his wife, Aisha, belongs in “my kitchen, my living room, and the other room“.
