Must read

Ahead of the Independence Day Anniversary of Nigeria on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu state has urged Nigerians to embrace a new spirit of loyalty.

Adding to this, he also called for sacrifice and commitment in order to enhance unity in its diversity in the nation including socio-economically, politically and otherwise.

This was made known in an independence anniversary message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Achife.

Chime noted that current events and circumstances in the country were enough reasons for all Nigerians to pursue standards and visions that can only foster greater national integration and development.

“The nature of the challenges facing the nation today, more especially those concerning insecurity and frequent natural and unnatural tragedies, was enough to foist on all Nigerians a new sense of solidarity and comradeship that would enable them pool their resources together and pull the nation out of her current challenges,” he added.

Punch reports that, Chime equally commended Nigerians for being able to sustain democracy after many years of military rule.

He said the sustenance of democracy was the major building block for rapid development in all sectors of the nation’s economy.

The governor urged Nigerians not to allow any person or group to cut short the current pace at which the nation is developing indifferent sectors, maintaining that all efforts must be made to root rid the society of retrogression.

Furthermore, he further prayed that God would give Nigerian leaders the wisdom and courage to handle the country’s diverse problems and ensure that the dreams of our founding fathers come true in order to protect both present and future generations of the nation.
