A woman who was declared dead and buried had sent some chills down the spines of a cemetery worker after she screamed from inside the grave moments after she was buried.
The apparently terrified man told the police a shocking tale of how he heard some screams and bangs from the grave of the 49-year-old woman and mother of two in Peraia cemetery near Thessaloniki in Greece.
According to Metro UK, workers and cemetery visitors frantically dug up the coffin and smashed it open, however they were too late and the woman had died.
A doctor, Chrissi Matsikoudi, who examined the deceased woman’s body explained to the police at the scene that she died from cancer and could not have possibly been buried alive after several hours of being lifeless due to the advanced state of her ailment.
He said, “We did several tests including one for heart failure on the body.”
The police withheld the woman’s name pending in when the result of the post mortem was released.
The family members of the woman considered filing a complaint against the doctors who declared her dead, although it is not certain if the eventually went ahead with the plans.
