Nigeria’s under-17 male football team, Golden Eaglets now know their opponents at the group stage of the 2014 FIFA U-17 world cup which takes place in Chile this October.
There may be no minnows in world football anymore but the Golden Eaglets have definitely been drawn with heavyweights in Group A. Coming into the competition as defending champions, Nigeria will face tournament host – Chile, United States of America and Croatia.
This will be Croatia’s third appearance at the tournament. For Chile, this will be their fourth time at the tournament. Nigeria will be making their eleventh appearance while USA will be present for the fifteenth time.
The Emmanuel Amuneke led boys will file out for their first match in the competition against USA on October 17. On the 20th of October, the Golden Eaglets will square up against Chile. Nigeria’s final group game will be against Croatia
The other African teams at the tournament are Mali, South Africa and Guinea.
