It’s All A Lie: Chibok Local Gov’t Chairman Says No Women Were Abducted By Boko Haram

Baana Lawan, chairman of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State has debunked claims that 20 women were abducted from the area on Saturday, June 7, 2014.

Media reports yesterday, June 10, 2014 claim that 20 young women and three men were taken in broad daylight from Garkin Fulani area of Borno State by insurgents believed to belong to the Islamist sect, Boko Haram. The village is just about five kilometers from Chibok, where more than 200 school girls were kidnapped about two months ago. A local leader puts the number of Saturday’s abduction as high as 40.

The abductions which caused international concern has been denied by Baana Lawan, who claims to have no knowledge of the incident.
