Suleiman Hashimu, or ‘The Traveller,’ as he is now called, is a young man who garnered a lot of attention after he claims he vowed to walk from Lagos to Abuja if General Muhammadu Buhari won the 2015 presidential election.
General Buhari won and Hashimu claims he started his walk. Hashimu arrived Abuja on the evening of Monday, April 20, 2015 after allegedly trekking for over 19 days.
Nollywood producer and social critic Charles Novia, like many other critical people, does not believe Hashimu’s claims.
The award winning filmmaker took to Twitter with a series of tweets on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.
Distance frm Lag to Abj: about 778km. Trekking by foot entails covering 38.9km daily X 20 days. No sleep,no rest. How did he do it? Na wash

He also asked in another tweet :
Did the young man who trekked not hitch a ride or cab somewhere along the journey? It couldn't have been all on foot! In 19 days? Haba!

Upon the traveller’s arrival in Abuja:

It was perhaps these and other reports on Hashimu’s progress that have drawn the suspicion of the respected Nigerian filmmaker.
Narrating his experience to newsmen upon his arrival in Abuja, Hashimu said he had gone to get a police report at Ibadan to allow for an unimpeded journey, but that as he could not wait for the processes to be completed, the divisional police officer (DPO) gave him his phone number.
The journey man said when he first embarked on the journey, many persons discouraged him, especially family members but he never gave up.
Hashimu said he continued his trip from Mokwa to Kudu, then from Kutigi to Bida, and then to Suleja, after which arrived in Abuja yesterday on Monday.
It is important to note that Hashimu did not document his trip and failed to provide proof of his journey.
