Nigeria Football Federation will get $750,000, about N198 million, as prize money for the Super Eagles second-placed finish at the just-concluded Africa Nations Championship.
The players and their coaches would share about N90 million which represent 30 percent of the prize money.
Nigeria had earlier collected $100,000, about N34 million, from the Confederation of African Football as participation fee. Morocco, which hosted and emerged the winners, pocketed a staggering US$2.5 million in prize money, which represents a 67% increase from $750,000 awarded to winners of the previous editions. The runners-up of the last edition of the tournament got $400,000.
Each Super Eagles player is expected to earn about $20,000, about N7 million, in bonuses and allowances excluding the windfall from the prize money.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian delegation to the tournament is expected to arrive the country Tuesday morning via a direct Air Maroc flight from Casablanca and will be hosted by the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
