The authority of Chad has announced a ban on full Islamic face veils, or burqas.
This development was disclosed on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 following suicide bombings in the hit the capital earlier this week.
The country’s prime minister, Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet said that militants had used the veil as “camouflage” and that security forces would begin burning all face veils sold in the country.
According to BBC, the Muslim-majority country in central Africa also said that it would be banning head-to-toe burqas and religious turbans.
Deubet further noted that the ban would be applied everywhere, not only in public places, adding that any clothing that covered anything but the eyes would be considered camouflage.
He said, “Even the burqas for sale in the markets will be withdrawn.”
