COMO, Italy – Former Barcelona, Arsenal, and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36.
The Spanish midfielder, who last played for Como in Serie B, leaves the game after a stellar career that spanned 20 years and saw him win an array of prestigious titles.
Fabregas is widely regarded as one of the most talented midfielders of his generation.
During his time in the English Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea, he secured two FA Cups and two Premier League titles.
He later added a LaLiga crown to his trophy haul during his stint with Barcelona in Spain.
On the international stage, Fabregas was an instrumental part of the golden generation of Spanish football that dominated the world between 2008 and 2012.
He was a member of the Spain squads that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012.

“It is with great sadness that the time has come for me to hang up my playing boots,” he said.
