An ex-teacher at a Catholic school in suburban Detroit will spend between six and 15 years behind bars after having sex with a 15-year-old student.
Kathryn Ronk, now 30, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct after the relationship in 2013 and early 2014 with a boy student at Bishop Foley Catholic High School.
The Spanish teacher was originally charged with five counts of first-degree sexual criminal sexual conduct for having sex and committing sexual acts with the boy in her classroom, her car and his home.
At the time of her arrest police said that the teacher, who was known as Señora Ronk, and the unnamed boy would reportedly have sex in between classes.
She could have faced life in prison for the relationship, which became known last spring after the students’ parents filed a complaint, but will now be eligible for parole after five and a half years.
The sentence she received from Macomb County, where the boy lives, on Thursday will run concurrently which the similar sentence she received from Oakland County in March, where the school is located, according to Michigan Live.
