Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has died at the age of 60.
Fisher died Tuesday [December 27, 2016] morning after having a massive heart attack on Friday while on a flight from London to Los Angeles, U.S.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” Simon Halls, a spokesperson for Fisher’s family, said in a statement.
Following Fisher’s cardiac attack on the LA-bound flight, a medic onboard performed CPR on the her until paramedics arrived to take her to UCLA Medical Center, where she was placed on a ventilator.
The actress had been in London filming episodes of the Amazon/Channel 4 comedy “Catastrophe”.
Fisher was the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher, whose marriage hit the rocks when Fisher had an affair with Elizabeth Taylor.
The actress told New York Times in 2006 that she was reluctant to go into the entertainment industry.
“I grew up on the back side of show business. So I had no desire to go into it. It had beat up my mother. I had a front-and-center view of how that hurt her. I understood that when they were done with you, they were done,” Fisher had said.
