Diva Alert: Can You Guess What Turns Off Mariah Carey? Hint: It’s Bright!

Must read

LOS ANGELES, USA — Mariah Carey, the iconic singer often dubbed the “Queen of Christmas,” recently opened up about her distaste for one common annoyance: overhead lighting.

During an appearance on iHeart Radio’s Las Culturistas Podcast, Carey humorously shared her disdain for the unflattering lighting she encounters in everyday public spaces.

“I can’t with the overhead lighting,” the 55-year-old pop legend said during the interview.

“Why do they do it to us? I shouldn’t say us, it’s not us, it’s me.”

Carey went on to explain that she finds lighting in places like elevators, doorways, and gyms particularly “torturous.”

She even joked about her lack of gym visits, quipping, “Not that I go to the gym. I’m just saying.”

The superstar revealed that while she enjoys natural sunlight — with a preference for the golden glow of sunset — she still acknowledges its drawbacks.

“The sun is okay if it’s sunset,” she said. “I’ll gladly go outside and put a little hat on or whatever, and that’ll be pretty because the sunlight caresses your skin.”

However, Carey remains cautious about prolonged exposure to sunlight, noting that “it’s bad for you, so you have to be careful.”

In contrast, overhead lighting gets no such pass from the singer. “I don’t think so, honey,” Carey said with her signature flair, emphasising her dislike.

“It makes me sick,” she added, making it clear that she isn’t a fan of harsh lighting in any form.
