[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]ou’ll need to replace your mattress at least every few years. Once it starts to feel lumpy or get moldy, then it’s time to get a new one! And fortunately, there are many types of mattresses to choose from and ways to get it.
The two main (and probably only) ways to purchase a mattress is through online stores or physical shops near you. However, which one is better and where should you get your mattress? This is a long debate with many saying that each has their pros and cons, as well as more advice which can help you in the long run!
Wondering where to get your mattress? Read on as I show you the advantages and disadvantages of each!
Getting a Mattress Online
The Internet is filled with many platforms where you can purchase items online, including mattresses! It has made the transaction process much easier in many ways. For starters, you don’t need to get out of the house when making your purchase. This is best for those who live far from a physical bed store or don’t feel comfortable purchasing from one.
Also, the transaction process is hassle-free and takes a few minutes. You’re able to find manufacturers who sell their own products online, so you’ve assured the legitimacy of the shipment and have no trouble getting your money’s worth. You can even find legitimate websites that sell brand new mattress for less the price compared to physical stores, saving you even more money.
However, there are drawbacks. People won’t be able to test the mattress themselves, depending on other people’s reviews on the mattress. Also, there’s a chance that you MAY get scammed, especially if you purchase from stores without certifications or get it second hand (which isn’t recommended!).
Some stores also don’t accept returns or guarantees, which is a hassle if you aren’t satisfied with your purchase. And if there IS a guarantee, it’s just as much as a hassle returning it. But if you do purchase it from companies who sell their own products online, then there’s a chance that they offer free pickups to lessen the trouble on your side.
Getting a Mattress In the Store
One of the main benefits of purchasing a mattress straight from the physical store is that you get to see it in real time. You’re able to test it out yourself and see if it’s really for you. Not only does this save a lot of time but effort as well, since you’re ensured that you found a mattress that fits your needs and wants based on how you tested it.
After all, you can’t test out a mattress you get online, and if you got the wrong fit, you’ll have to hassle yourself in shipping it back, making the purchasing time longer. Furthermore, if you aren’t familiar with how to select a mattress, expert salespeople are there to help recommend and guide you.
BUT, there are a few downfalls to purchasing from a store, too. For starters, it can be a bit of an intimidating experience because of all the salesmen and choices. Plus there’s the chance of not being able to find an adequate physical store, due to distance and your location.
If you aren’t a great negotiator in person, then there’s a chance of not being able to get a great deal, paying more than you would from an online store. Also, there are some people who won’t be able to test out the mattress themselves, because of the discomfort felt when lying down on a mattress in public areas.
Buying a Mattress Online vs In the Store: Where Should You Go?
Now that I explained both sides of getting a mattress online or in a physical store, which is better?
Honestly, this all depends on your preferences and individual factors. If you are far from a physical store or don’t feel comfortable purchasing items in person, then you’re best off browsing through an online store, which saves you a lot of time and money.
However, if you’re one who wants to test out the mattress before purchasing it and want assurance or advice from real people, then you’ll want to go to a physical store yourself.
But in my opinion, I want to combine both methods to get the best bang for your buck and lessen any issues in the long run.
When I purchase a mattress, I first check out the physical store to test it out myself. I get a good feel of my choices and the prices from the physical store (after negotiations), then head on home to check on the prices online. If I find that there are cheaper choices on those mattress models, then jackpot!
I highly recommend that you do this method so you can test out the mattress yourself and still get the best deal.
Wrapping It Up
Many people choose to buy their mattresses online. And just as many people choose to buy it from the physical store. The best method is actually up to you, depending on key factors and individual preferences.
I hope that this article shows you which method of mattress buying is best for you! So don’t wait any longer and look into getting a new mattress today.
