Burial Rites Of Late Oba Of Benin, Erediauwa, Begins, To End On June 8

The burial rites of the late Oba of Benin, Omonoba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa, whose death was announced barely a month ago will begin on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 through to June 8, 2016, a total of 15 days.

As announced by the council of chiefs, in a statement signed by the secretary of the Benin traditional council, Mr. Frank Irabor, the event will begin on Wednesday, May 25 and elapse on June 8.

The statement advised members of the public resident in Benin City to go about their normal activities as the burial activities last, but warned residents to restrain themselves from reserved places where the rites are not open to the public.

The statement said all unfamiliar sounds which are intended to warn people, especially the women to keep away may be heard in places, but it should not cause any anxiety among members of the public.
