A catastrophe was averted in Katsina State on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 when hundreds of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, wielding the party’s broom symbol and chanting “Sai Buhari” attacked the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan.
It took a combined unit of soldiers and anti-riot policemen, armed with canisters of tear gas to disperse the crowd who surged forward as the President and his delegation visited the residence of Hajia Dada – mother of late President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua – calling the President “arna”, which means unbeliever.
The tension peaked as the convoy sped past the area, with the mob hurling stones at the presidential motorcade, although nobody was injured in the delegation which had Vice President Namadi Sambo, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, Ministers and other PDP leaders as members.
