A Personal Assistant to Kayode Fayemi, the former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Oluwaseun Odewale has confirmed reports by BREAKING TIMES on Wednesday that President Buhari was asleep when Senator Bukola Saraki was elected President of the Senate.

President Muhammadu Buhari was absent at a meeting he scheduled with APC Senators on Tuesday morning by 9am.

BREAKING TIMES reported on Wednesday that the meeting, which was to hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja failed as President Buhari, slept off upon his arrival in Nigeria early on Tuesday morning from the G7 Summit in Germany.

Responding to reactions in the social media on Wednesday over the report by BREAKING TIMES, Mr. Odewale said President Buhari was sleeping as a result of fatigue from the 7 hour trip from Munich to Abuja.

Kayode Fayemi was Director of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation’s policy team and the strategist who organised the widely praised primary elections that crowned Buhari as presidential candidate in December 2014. He is also reportedly being vetted for the position of Chief of Staff to President Buhari after being dropped from Buhari’s ministerial list.

A source within the Presidency had disclosed to BREAKING TIMES Wednesday that travel fatigue prevented President Buhari from keeping his appointment with the APC Senators. “The President landed that morning and slept through till the time he gave the Senators for the meeting. At the time word could reach the President to remind him of the 9am appointment he gave to the APC Senators, Saraki was already Senate President. He is the one who gave the 9am appointment, so if anyone is telling you something else, it is a lie. The Preisdent slept off”, the source disclosed.

The Presidency is yet to issue a statement on why he was absent from the Tuesday’s meeting.
