President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, August 24, 2015 accepted an invitation from the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon to visit New York, USA for a meeting of world leaders aimed at formulating a fresh plan to tackle terrorism.
Also expected to be at the meeting, billed for Monday, September 28, 2015 are Presidents Barack Obama of USA and Francois Hollande of France.
President Buhari was also invited to a meeting of 25 world leaders on Sunday, September 27, 2015 where global climate change will take center stage
Ki-moon also acknowledged President Buhari’s moves to implement the UNEP report on the restoration of Ogoniland.
He said: “We will find ways to complement your leadership on environmental reform. We are happy with your plans for the restoration of Ogoniland and we will see how we can help.”
