Buhari: The Litmus Test And Exposure Of Cowardice (READ)

Must read

I wrote a piece sometimes back about how the litmus tests of the current anti-corruption fighting president who claimed to “belong to everybody but nobody” would come soon. It seems I have to enroll for that prophecy class now. It is now common knowledge now that the corruption that has been searched for has now been found.

Like my people would say “what you are looking for in Sokoto is right there in your trouser”. The war has now found amicable targets in the All Progressives Congress and their corruption stinks to the high heavens. Just like Abacha is a leader that Buhari adores without pardon and these individual with their “cloak of morality” have followed his enviable footsteps to become experts on advanced and futuristic saving techniques that he so perfected.

The destination this time is Dubai the gulf paradise. It is here that many have chosen to buy choice properties and invest their “progressive” loot. The media has been compromised as I have always said because of political correctness. Someone needs to ask the US where this particular stance has led them to. The fact that Sahara Reporters could go out of their way to edit out APC members from the list of looters speaks volumes as simply as the facts themselves.

There is no anti-corruption war. There is simply a witch-hunt in the race for 2019. The next three and a half years of this administration is going to be a story of blame and consolidating base for an election that is far away. “History always repeats itself” or to better phrase it according to friend “people always repeat history”.  The questions that seems to be begging for answers here is what is of concern to me. First of all when Tinubu was doling out money for the “change campaign” didn’t it disturb Buhari’s “rekindled morally upright” spirit?

Second was when El rufai declared 90bn naira in liquid assets alone, didn’t it raise any red flags? However, 400m from a certain Olisa Metuh triggered Buhari’s nose? 13bn alleged corruption by Diezani got death wishes and $2.1 billion arms deal is the hottest news item in town. It is then strange why the man saddled with selling our national assets while at the Bureau of Public Enterprises and also being in control of the FCT would declare 90 houses and no one would bat an eyelid! It is the strange situation Nigeria is now in where many of the crusaders screaming change just simply want to be on the other side of Buhari’s “imaginary corruption line” he promised to draw during the campaign.

Buhari has never had my support after the 2011 event where needless people died because of the greed of one man who was so eager to be called “President” which would be his own definition erase his past as a man who once believed and probably still does that “might is right”. I watched him closely when he was bribing politicians back then to work for him while contesting against OBJ. History is a very important subject that we shouldn’t forget for any reason. Those youth corpers with some of the coming from foreign universities to serve their fatherland were cut down in the name of being “riggers”. No one has cared to ask who their parents are and what they did wrong to be murdered.

Buhari is the president now and he has stated the sole reason he was voted into power was to fight corruption. Well our dear president, will this be another case of your ever reliable tag of inconclusiveness? Or are you going to win many of your skeptics like me over by truly prosecuting corrupt practices as they really stand? I doubt very much that you may not be able to do that because it may cost you a lot more than you bargained for. Looking at your past you don’t strike me as someone who can make such a big call. I don’t think also you will feed any school children, pay 5,000 to anyone or even provide 3 million jobs during any given year. You are even in deficit of 1.5 million jobs so far.

So the show will continue and the entertainment will come. Buhari will arrest more people and put them in handcuffs but the real corruption will continue to thrive and be alive and well. The 2016 budget is a clear example so far where billions have been allocated for painting, computers and websites upgrade! It is unfortunate we have a man who has a habit of coming short when the true test show up. Why am I sounding as if it is almost certain? Two quotes.

The words of one of the APC senators, Shehu Sani, to be specific and I quote “The rule of law is a straight line upon which all other lines are compared or gauged”.

John Oyegun the APC chairman “We are investigating yesterday, let tomorrow investigate us”.
