A news tabloid, often referred to as the “mouthpiece” of the All Progressives Congress, SaharaReporters, has reported that there is a plan by the cabal holding President Muhammadu Buhari ‘hostage” in London to make a surprise return to Abuja.
According to the report, the Mamman Daura cabal, which is denying the president access to his family members, plans to bring Buhari home before the planned 8-week closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
If this plan goes through, it would be reminiscent a “surprise” late night arrival of ailing former President Musa Yar’Adua in the twilight of his regime in 2009. The president arrived in an air-ambulance late at night, in the cover of the dark and his death was announced some days after.
“Some of Mr. President’s associates are mounting pressure on him to return to Abuja as soon as possible, and especially before the [Abuja] airport is temporarily closed,” the tabloid quoted a source as saying.
“It doesn’t make sense for Mr. President to return to Abuja immediately just to serve the political interests of some people when his doctors want him to go through all his treatment. “
SaharaReporters revealed that the cabal controlled by Daura and the president’s personal assistant, Tunde Sabiu is responsible for holding the president hostage and lying to Nigerians about the true state of health of Buhari.
Signal, an online newspaper, was the first to report in July 2016 of the existence of a cabal in Aso Rock and that the group had sidelined Aisha Buhari, the first lady and that even she did not have access to the ailing president.
The Trent also reported that President Buhari had been diagnosed with prostate cancer by his doctors in London who also advised him to operate and remove the growth at the time. The president ignored that advice because he didn’t want to be taken out of action for 6 months, the recommended recuperation period.
According to the report, Halima, one of the president’s daughters from his first marriage to his late ex-wife, is the only family member allowed to see the president.
Meanwhile, the speculations concerning Muhammadu Buhari’s health condition continue to swirl in the media, for the simple reason that the Buhari presidency is being forthright with Nigerians with regards to the health status of the former military dictator.
