The Presidency says President Muhammadu Buhari is the best man to destroy the Boko Haram insurgents in Northern Nigeria and bring an end to their carnage in the country.
This comes after Buhari has expressed surprise at the reports of terrorist attacks in the North West region of the country.
Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesman, made this declaration in a Twitter tirade on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
“President Buhari is going to finish off these terrorists. He alone can do it,” Garba Shehu he wrote on the microblogging platform.
President Buhari is working hard to keep Nigeria and Nigerians out of the harm terrorists have unleashed in the entire Sahel and Sub-Saharan Africa with the support of Nigerians and our foreign friends, he is going to finish off these terrorists. He alone can do it.

Speaking in reaction to a call by Enyinnaya Abaribe asking President Buhari to resign for ‘failing to secure the nation’, Garba Shehu said if a leader like President Buhari needs to resign, there are millions of other Nigerians who need to resign, including the lawmaker.
He accused Abaribe of unlocking the door to enable the escape of traitorous and treasonable suspects.
Shehu further claimed that Abaribe’s party ‘raped’ the nation and left it collapsing in 2015, adding that President Buhari has been fixing things up since he came into office.
The presidential spokesman further noted that the President is working hard to keep Nigeria and Nigerians out of the harm terrorists have unleashed in the entire Sahel and Sub-Saharan Africa.
He declared that the reign of terror will soon come to an end with the support of Nigerians and her foreign friends.
Shehu Garba’s Full Twitter Tirade
Just because some characters think that President Buhari should resign, then they expect him to quit. That call does not represent the opinion of the country. This is the opinion of an armchair critic, known for making stray comments.
If a leader like President Buhari needs to resign, there are millions of other Nigerians who need to resign, including Senator Abaribe who unlocked the door to enable the escape of traitorous and treasonable suspects.
He signed the bond for the court to release Nnamdi Kanu on bail, from which moment the suspect disappeared into the thin air.
Abaribe has failed repeated deadlines to return Kanu to the court for trial, yet he has the effrontery with which to accuse someone of failing to the bidding of the law.
This is a man who should have replaced the suspects he failed to produce in the correctional facility.
Abaribe’s party raped the nation and left it collapsing in 2015 and President Buhari is fixing things up all the years he is in office.
President Buhari is working hard to keep Nigeria and Nigerians out of the harm terrorists have unleashed in the entire Sahel and Sub-Saharan Africa with the support of Nigerians and our foreign friends, he is going to finish off these terrorists. He alone can do it.

Shehu’s statement inspired a hashtag in which Nigerians expressed their disappointment with the president for the many failures of the government.

Should Buhari resign— THC 🍃 (@ESEII_) January 29, 2020
If you can't find solutions to bandits, Boko Haram attacks it is better to resign. President Buhari should resign if he cannot fight insecurity which is one of what he swore over and undertook as the C-in-C… After all he once called on GEJ to resign to #BuhariResign pic.twitter.com/HLAI83LYip

On 29/01/2020, in his response to #BuhariResign @GarShehu tweeted that I jumped bail and disappeared ”into the thin air.” WRONG!
Nigerian Army invaded my home to assassinate me, read my story and join the heated discussion on the Independent’s website:https://t.co/xoKSTcNeNL

N19,800 was $100 during GEJ Era, at least before Buhari & the APC hapoened!
Today they announced the N33,000 for NYSC which is ONLY $91 as diversion from Senator Abaribe’s ‘Truth’ for #BuhariResign
Now factor inflation into the N33,000 ($91) & tell me what it can afford today?

Buhari has failed in all his campaign promises, only if he was a man of integrity, he would have just resigned but no he won’t, his ambition has always been power that he doesn’t know what to do with. #BuhariResign pic.twitter.com/EqeMaUdVsa

I expect Buhari and APC to go after Sen Abaribe for giving us valid reasons the president should resign…
However it only makes sense for this #BuhariResign campaign to trend because this is definitely not the Nigeria of our dreams. Worsening insecurity, poverty etc !

We need more people like Senator Alaribe in this country.
He used the government's words against them.
This government said if they didn't perform we should stone them.. That is what we should do!!! #BuhariResign pic.twitter.com/w420Q57MFF— 𝐆𝐞𝐦𝐦𝐚✨ (@Amaka__Gemma) January 30, 2020
Buhari has failed.
Some illiterates, blindfolded, ass kissers would not agree.
The primary responsibility of any govt is safety, and because he claimed he has key to security, Nigerians voted him in 2015.
Five years after, Nigerians are still being killed daily.#BuhariResign
