President Muhammadu Buhari is set to re-establish the 414 grazing reserve centers and stock routes around the country.
According to Vanguard, Mahmud Ibrahim who is the national co-ordinator, grazing reserve rehabilitation at the federal ministry of agriculture, has disclosed during a sensitization and mobilization programme on the topic of Wawazange Grazing Reserve in Dukkku Local Council of Gombe State, that the federal government aims to put an end to the clash between farmers and Fulani herdsmen by rehabilitating grazing reserve center and stock routes.
According to Ibrahim, that the project is in conjunction with the Fulani cattle rearers association, of which President Buhari is a grand patron, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, and is being carried out by the federal government through the ministry of agriculture.
The project which is aimed at curtailing the crisis among farmers and herdsmen has already begun with 10 states being mandated for the re-establishment of the grazing reserves and stock routes.
Baba Ngajarma, the national secretary of the breeder’s association has praised the effort made by the President Buhari’s led administration, saying that the project would not only sensitize farmers and herdsmen, it would also aid them in shunning violence and embracing one another.
