Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, acting on orders from Ibrahim Idris, the inspector general of police, have surrounded the residence of Bukola Saraki, the president of the Nigerian Senate.
The presence and the intention of the police officers was noticed around 8:13 am on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 as Dr. Saraki drove out of his residence.
According to Bankole Omishore, an aide to Senator Saraki, the president of the Senate was heading to the Police Headquarters to honour the invitation extended to him by Ibrahim Idris, the Nigerian police boss, on Monday night.
“The police have blocked the Senate President Bukola Saraki’s convoy at Lake chad junction on his way to report to the police headquarters upon the last night invitation by the police that was received at 8pm [Monday],” Omishore told The Trent.
