Yoruba actor, Olarenwaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl over the course of 7 years.
The victim is a ward of commedienne Princess, and the assault happened in her home where she lived and took in the victim.
Princess revealed some parents sent their children to live with her after her marriaged crashed so she will have company.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed the arrest in a statement titled, “Lagos police arrest, investigate popular Nollywood actor for defilement”.
The statement reads: “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Olarenwaju James ‘male’ 48, aka Baba Ijesha, popular Nollywood actor for defiling a minor.
“The case of defilement was reported on 19th April, 2021 by one Princess Adekola Adekanya ‘female’ at Sabo Police Station and transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba Lagos for proper investigation.
“Based on preliminary findings, the suspect started sexually assaulting the victim, 14 years, since she was seven years old.
“The suspect confessed to the crime and was also captured by a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered for proper investigation as he promised to do justice in the matter.”
A video has been shared which was recorded shortly before his arrest after he was caught on CCTV molesting his victim.
In the video, recorded by Princess, Babe Ijesha is seen admitting to molesting his victim when she was 7-years-old and again at 14-years-old.
