BREAKING: Nigerian Government Confirms 5 New Cases Of Coronavirus

Osagie Ehanire, Nigeria’s health minister, has confirmed five new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 8.

Dr. Ehanire confirmed the cases during a press briefing on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He explained that three of the cases came from the United States of America including a mother and child while two others came from the UK.

One of the confirmed cases is a Nigerian who came via the nation’s land border.

Four cases are Lagos and while one is from Ekiti.

The Lagos State Government has reported a fresh case of coronavirus in Lagos on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2020. This is the official 3rd case of the virus in the country.

The confirmation was made by the Lagos State Ministry of Health on Twitter.

The patient is an independent case not connected with the index case of the Italian man.

3rd Coronavirus Case, 30-Year-Old Nigerian Woman Tests Positive In Lagos

The victim is a 30-year-old Nigerian female who returned from the United Kingdom on Friday, 13 March 2020, observed self-isolation, developed symptoms and has been tested positive.

Akin Abayomi, the health commissioner in Lagos State, has revealed that the patient is in isolation and is receiving care at Mainland Hospital, Yaba.

“Contact tracing of all passengers and those who may have had body contact with this latest case has commenced,” he said in another tweet on Tuesday. 

“If you are a passenger on flight BA 75 that arrived in Lagos on 13th March, 2020, stay at home and isolate yourself for 14 days. Call @LSMOH on these hot lines, 08000corona, 08023169485, 08033565529, 08052817243, 08028971864, 08059758886, 08035387653.”
