Nigeria’s Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina on Thursday, May 28, 2015 got elected as the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
He was elected at the AfDB summit currently going on in Abidjan, the capital of Cote d’Ivoire.
Adesina was widely seen as a major contender for the position after receiving the full support and endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan and President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.Adesina polled 58.10% of the total votes to win the election.
